Crosscurrents: Dürer to Picasso

The exhibition will explore the influence of select old master artists on some of the foremost modern masters via prints and drawings. Among the items on view will be works by Albrecht Dürer (1471-1528), Hieronymus Bosch (1450-1516), Pieter Bruegel the Elder (1564-1638) and Rembrandt (1606-1669), as well as works by Goya (1746-1828), Daumier (1808-1879), Matisse (1869-1954), Picasso (1881-1973) and Andy Warhol (1928-1987).

Power and Wisdom: Portraits in a Changing Europe

An exhibition of European portraiture that reflects the changing times and attitudes of 18 th-century Europe, when the grandeur of 17 th-century Baroque gave way to a more decorative and visually pleasing style, and where the grand tour, with its traveling nobility and artists, encouraged an international cross current in portraiture.

François-Joseph Bélanger: Projects for Ceilings

Nearly 50 watercolor paintings by the French Neoclassical architect and interior designer Francois-Joseph Bélanger (1744-1818). The show, held in collaboration with the Galerie de Bayser in Paris , features works from an album of ceiling designs created between 1780 and 1790 held in private hands for over a century. Bélanger designed coaches, furniture and interiors for the Kings Louis XV and XVI as well as numerous private homes for Parisian aristocrats and bankers in the late 18 th and early 19 th century.

Sublime Convergence: Gothic to the Abstract

An exhibition of Italian Gothic paintings and sculpture paired with 20 th century American masterworks that all evoke a spiritual quality. Works by 8 Gothic artists including Bernardo Daddi (c.1280-1348), Taddeo Gaddi (active 1325-1366), Andrea di Bartolo (1389-1428), Taddeo di Bartolo (c.1362-1422) and Paolo Veneziano (1333-1358) will be featured alongside works by 9 modern and contemporary masters including Brice Marden (b. 1938), Agnes Martin (1912-2004) Barnett Newman (1905-1970) and Mark Rothko (1903-1970). The show is presented in collaboration with Moretti Fine Art, Florence .

Still lifes, genre, landscapes, portraits and religious and historical works, most on view to the public for the first time in many years. Featured paintings include works by Pieter Claesz (1590-1660), Joos de Momper (1564-1635), Dirck Hals (1591-1656), and Gillis Rombouts (1630-1698).
